I had the honor of getting to test this awesome pattern for Made for Mermaids. The best thing about this pattern – all the proceeds are going to Hurricane Harvey relief. Andddd you get an adorable pattern for a super cute pair of shorts/pants. I didn’t know what culottes were until this test, and to be honest, after my first pair, I fell in love. I love the way they look like a skirt but are a short – you can’t beat that! And, any pattern that comes in small sizes is a win for me, because I love matching my little one. This pair is double brushed poly and they are a dream.
I found that the drape of the DBP was awesome for this pattern. If you use something too heavy it will not fall as pretty and flows differently. And you can’t beat the feel of DBP against your skin!
There is no doubt that you need this pattern in your collection. You will want multiple pairs in your wardrobe after you make the first pair. The next pair I made was rayon spandex. These are cute too, but I definitely like the DBP ones better!
I made the 1/2 size for Emma. For me, the DBP ones are size grey with a 6 inch inseam. I was curious how a bigger size fit, so the rayon spandex ones are a purple with a 4 inch inseam. I am dying to find time to make some longer ones!
